Item songs are a necessary evil in Bollywood. Though criticised for objectifying women, even top filmmakers from Karan Johar to Dibakar Banerjee cannot resist adding a glitzy, glamorous item number in their movies to lure the masses.  Even the leading ladies seem to have no qualms about going all out with the amazingly toned bodies to ooze oomph in a showstopper song. They get tons of money and mileage out of it. Often the item girl is more talked about than the film's actual heroine.
