Indian Supreme Court order on Italian government's plea Thursday

'We will honor any assurance' (ANSA) - New Delhi, April 8 - Two Italian marines facing homicide charges in India will not face the death penalty should they be convicted in the deaths of two fishermen, a senior official in New Delhi said Monday.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a murder case against two Italian Marines for allegedly killing two Indian fishermen off Kerala coast last year. The Home Ministry had handed over the case to NIA through an order last evening.
