Modicare: Niti Aayog gets tough, seeks 'realistic' estimates

The government would be setting up a National Health Protection Council, National Governance Board and National Health Agency before  roll-out of the scheme on August 15. In a proposal put up before the expenditure finance committee, the Union health ministry and the Niti Aayog have suggested that the total cost of the National Health Protection Scheme or Modicare would be around Rs 25,000 crore, including Rs 10,000 crore that is to be borne by state governments, for 2018-19 and 2019-20.
