The large-cap CSI300 index lost 0.1% to its lowest closing level since Jan. 11. The Shanghai Composite Index also fell 0.1% to its lowest point since Dec. 28.

The CSI300 index of the leading Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listings closed down 0.5% at 2,606.9, while the Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.2%.

The CSI300 closed down 3.3 per cent at 2,499.3. The Shanghai Composite Index dived 2.8 per cent as bourse volume climbed to its highest since March 21.
